Privacy Policy

The short version: Vupti doesn't send us any of your data, and there's nothing to sell. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no servers of our own. What the app keeps stays on your iPhone, and the only things other people get are your nick and the files you choose to send them.

What stays on your iPhone

The photos, videos and files you choose to send. To send, Vupti makes a temporary copy inside the app and deletes it once the send is done, or the next time Vupti starts if it never went.
The files you receive. They stay inside Vupti until you delete them, even after you save them to Photos or share them. They're not included in your iCloud Backup.
A list of what you sent and received, shown in your inbox: file name, type, size and time, and which ones you saved to Photos. It stays until you delete the row.
Your nick and your settings, such as appearance and background, plus a few small notes, like whether Pro is on.
The phones you chose to trust, and the ones that chose to trust you. For each one Vupti keeps a secret key, that phone's nick and when you last swapped files, in the iPhone Keychain on this device only. They're not synced to iCloud or moved to a new phone, and a pairing you haven't used for 180 days is deleted on its own.

What other people can see

While Vupti is on your screen, it announces itself over peer-to-peer Wi-Fi and the Wi-Fi network you're on, so nearby iPhones running Vupti can find it. This announcement isn't encrypted, so anyone on the same Wi-Fi, or nearby with the right tools, can see it too.

It carries your nick, a color and a random ID, plus what's needed to connect: a port number and a temporary Wi-Fi address. The ID and color are new each time Vupti starts. Your nick stays until you change it, so pick one you're fine with strangers seeing.

On a shared Wi-Fi network, like a café's, iOS also shows your iPhone's network name to that network, usually made from its name in Settings (like "Anna's iPhone"), and Vupti's announcement points to it. If that bothers you, rename your iPhone in Settings → General → About → Name, or keep Wi-Fi on without joining the network. Vupti works fine that way.

When you send and receive

Files go directly from one iPhone to the other, encrypted end to end, and never through a server. No internet is needed, except to download a photo that's only in iCloud first.
Before a photo or video leaves your iPhone, Vupti removes the location saved in it. If that doesn't work, nothing is sent. Other details, like when it was taken and which camera took it, stay in. Other files, such as PDFs or zips, are sent exactly as they are.
Both screens show the same two-color ring, so you can check you're connected to the right phone.
When a phone you haven't trusted wants to send you something, Vupti asks first. Nothing is saved before you accept.

Permissions

Photos: to show your photos and videos so you can pick what to send. You can allow just some of them. Saving a received photo or video asks separately, only for permission to add to your library.
Local Network: to find nearby phones and send to them.

You can change these at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Purchases

Vupti Pro is bought through the App Store, and Apple handles the payment under its own privacy policy. Vupti only reads Apple's signed record of the purchase on your iPhone and keeps a small note that Pro is on, so it works without internet. We never get your payment details or your Apple Account information.

Third parties

Nobody else gets your data. Vupti contains no third-party code: no SDKs, analytics or ad networks. Apple handles App Store purchases and iCloud Photos downloads under its own privacy policy. If you've turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports and app usage totals.

Children

Vupti doesn't collect data from anyone, including children.

Keeping and deleting

We don't hold any of your data, so there's nothing for us to delete. Everything is on your iPhone, and you can remove it yourself:

Press and hold a row in the inbox and tap Delete to remove that file and its entry.
Tap Forget under Trusted phones in Vupti's Settings to remove every pairing at once.
Deleting the app removes its files, the list and your settings. iOS keeps the trusted-phone keys in the Keychain after that, where no other app can read them, and Vupti wipes them the first time it opens if you install it again. Photos you saved to your library stay there.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
